Strengthening East Bay Communities

Many youth face limited access to quality arts education due to school funding cuts and economic challenges. Too often, the streets or negative influences fill that void.

Bay Youth Music Foundation was founded by local leaders, including President Spencer (a longtime East Bay community member with deep roots in safety, construction, and youth-adjacent work), to change that reality. We created a warm, structured, joyful space where every young person can discover the power of music: learning to read, play, collaborate, and perform.

Students don’t just study notes — they build skills for life, gain confidence through performances, connect with their cultural heritage, and develop the character traits (discipline, respect, resilience, leadership) that help them succeed in school and beyond. By catching the love for art instead of the streets, we are investing in the next generation of musicians, leaders, and engaged citizens.

Our programs are tuition-free or scholarship-supported, with priority for low-income and underserved families. We serve the general public with a racially nondiscriminatory policy. No child is denied based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or immigration status.
